Under the supervision of a licensed social worker this position assists other individuals with chemical dependency or mental disorders. This position is working as part of an interdisciplinary team either in our 16 bed short term mental health Recovery Center with a focus on crisis stabilization/recovery or in the UNI Receiving Center which is focused on initial stabilization, strength based assessment and triage. There are day, evening and midnight shifts and 40 hour, 30 hour and 20 hour positions available. Peer specialists are an integral part of the treatment teams and work closely with individuals in crisis to support their recovery and provide peer mentoring, goal setting and discharge planning. Responsibilities: - Provides crisis intervention services to patients experiencing distress. - Responds as part of the Mobile Team to provide outreach services to patients. - May makes referrals to appropriate community resources. - Follows up with patients as appropriate. Knowledge / Skills / Abilities - Ability to perform the essential functions of the job outlined above - Strong organizational and follow through skills - A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required - Demonstrated human relations and effective verbal and written communication skills - Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and problem solve - Must possess knowledge of community resources, discharge planning, and crisis counseling - Demonstrate the knowledge of the principles of life span growth and development and the ability to assess data regarding the patient's status - Good interpersonal skills to acquire the trust of patients and respond appropriately in a crisis situation - Knowledge of HIPPA and ability to adhere to the requirements Qualifications: Required - Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalency. - Certified Peer Specialist in the State of Utah - Some assignments may require a current Basic Life Support Health Care Provider card All of the following license(s) - Certified Peer Specialist
