The Associated Press seeks graduate students for its paid summer Business Associates Program. The Social Media Associate will be responsible for auditing AP’s social media channels and working with marketing managers in New York and London to coordinate activities and develop a strategy designed to support revenue goals. The role is strategic as well as operational in nature and includes auditing existing accounts, researching and establishing best practices, planning, coordinating and executing email campaigns, creating landing pages, conceptualizing creative social campaigns as well as gathering, reporting, measuring campaign performance and analyzing results. This position requires the ability to work across many functions and groups and individuals at all levels. The associate will lead projects independently as well as work collaboratively within a team structure. QUALIFICATIONS Candidates must be full-time graduate-level students enrolled in a college or university in the United States, with a demonstrated interest in media and legal authorization to work in the U.S. Previous employment experience in research and news media industry or graduate studies geared toward those areas is a plus. Applicants must be proficient in performing qualitative, quantitative and competitor analysis and the ability to identify and articulate critical observations and insights from complex data sets. They should be self-starters, highly organized, attentive to detail and able to multitask independently to manage projects as assigned. Candidates should possess knowledge of HTML and high level understanding of Web-based communications. Other desired experience include exposure to Google Analytics, social media and email marketing platforms, working knowledge of Web architecture, content management systems, online metrics and knowledge of statistics. Project management experience will be essential for this role. Exceptional analytical, interpersonal, written communication and presentation skills along with the ability to work with customers and as a team player across the company and meet tight deadlines are essential. Other desired computer skills include a high proficiency in Microsoft Office suite. Punctuality and professional attire are required for the office. All candidates must be available to work in New York City starting June 2, 2014, for 12 consecutive weeks on a full-time basis.
