Student Internship - Health Policy/Systems Tracking Code 1111G Job Description This internship has been designed to be a learning experience for an active college student. Works with Society staff, physicians and payers to identify and resolve a variety of health care practice and system matters including medical coding and reimbursement, policy, and operational issues. Assists in developing reports on relevant payer, system data and trends. Assists department with various research requests and participates in the creation of departmental products including the workforce study, quality paper, MMS Index and other requests as needed. Participates in projects in a variety of health care areas such as new payer initiatives, data analytics, physician performance measurements, and cost of care. Assists with the completion of work for grants, the development of educational programs and other projects as needed. Required Experience A Bachelor’s degree is preferred and a related Masters degree is a plus. Related healthcare experience, including proven success in resolving reimbursement, medical and operational issues for physicians across payers is required. An understanding of the healthcare environment, physician concerns, payer issues and a solid understanding of data analysis and research methodologies are a must. Strong project management, team work, research and analytical skills, along with excellent interpersonal, written and oral communications skills are essential.
