BTQ Financial seeks a bright and diligent undergraduate accounting major for this entry level position, with a firm grasp of GAAP (General Accepted Accounting Principles) and be highly organized. Interns will gain hands on experience in the financial workings of a non-profit organization while conditioning their accounting skills. This internship is both substantive as well as administrative in nature. Creativity and organization are strongly encouraged Interns provide administrative support to the audit and client teams. As this is an entry-level position, no prior professional experience is required. Candidate must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance or be pursuing a graduate level degree in finance, public/nonprofit management or other related field. Specific responsibilities include: Prepare Excel spreadsheets for analysis performed by professional staff. Prepare federal and state income tax returns. Prepare and mail quarterly payment vouchers to state/local revenue authorities. Create and maintain spreadsheet updates, files and file system. Facilitate sending and receiving files for audits. Prepare and monitor General Ledger Postings. Reconcile bank accounts and General Ledger Accounts. Support professional staff with any task related to bookkeeping procedures. Perform administrative duties as delegated (e.g. filing, typing, faxing, and photocopying). Other projects and tasks as required. Ideal applicants must also have the following qualifications, skills and capabilities. Detail oriented, responsible, organized and focused on quality client service. Proficiency use of computers especially MS Excel. Basic working knowledge of income tax law and the ability to participate in the production of federal and state income tax returns. Flexible, resourceful and self-motivated to learn. Available to work a minimum of 25 hours/3 days per week during normal business hours. Education: Completed at least two (2) to three (3) years towards a Bachelors Degree in Accounting or related field (Business, Finance or Economics).
