The Design departments create various design elements for our channels. These areas work on show opens, bumpers, bugs, transitions, game content, logos, and invites. We have areas geared toward graphics, digital, print as well as motion which develops the on-screen creative feel of each network, using images and graphics to promote programs. Below is a sampling of some of our design internship openings at Viacom. Internships include but are not limited to the following groups: •Off-Air Creative Design - Functions as an in-house visual communications department. We employ Art Directors, Graphic Designers, Copywriters and Project Managers and Project Coordinators, which handle a wide variety of print related projects including: advertising campaigns, package design, consumer products and internal / external support marketing materials. Students must know Photoshop and Illustrator. Some departments require a reel or online portfolio. •On-Air Graphics - Creates on air elements include opens, bumpers, bugs, transitions, production frames. We have a team of designers, animators, project managers, PA’s and Coordinators. Once we created the graphics we hand them off to producers/editors who will insert the graphics into the show. Students must know Photoshop, Illustrator, Aftereffects, and Final Cut. Some departments require a reel or online portfolio. •Web Development/Design - Web development starting with image preparation by using Photoshop and Illustrator to constructing Web pages with HTML/Dreamweaver. Flash skills are highly desired. If the intern has the capability for advanced Web development, he/she will team on larger websites and online applications. In your application, please provide a link to your website. Please note that in order to be a Viacom intern, you must meet ALL of the criteria below to be eligible for the program: •You must be registered to receive college credit (i.e., internship class, seminar or transcript notation) with your college or university for the semester you are interning, and must provide official documentation on school letterhead confirming this information upon acceptance of the internship. •If your school does not offer college credit, then you must be registered for an independent study project directly related to the internship. •The program runs for a minimum of 10 weeks. •You must be available to work a minimum of two full days per week (no weekends), but some departments may require more than two days. Typical business hours are 9:30AM to 5:30PM. •Internships are open to college juniors and seniors, though some departments also accept graduate students and law school students. •Please note that this is an unpaid internship, and we do not offer housing.
