DonorsChoose.org engages the public in public schools by giving people a simple, accountable, and personal way to address educational inequity. To date, teachers at half of all the public schools in America have posted classroom project requests on our site. Projects range from paper and markers for a poetry writing unit to violins for a school recital. More than 1.4 million “citizen philanthropists” have supported such projects, channeling books, field trips, technology, and other resources to more than 12 million students from low-income communities. In all, we’ve generated $258 million for learning experiences designed by our country’s most dedicated public school teachers. Fast Company recently named DonorsChoose.org to their list of the 50 Most Innovative Companies in the World for the second time, while GOOD Magazine highlighted us as one of 30 Places We Want to Work. Our culture is informal, fast-paced, and fun. Team Overview The Partnerships & Business Development (PBD) team designs award-winning philanthropic partnerships and cause marketing campaigns with corporations and foundations. This past school year, we exceeded our goal of raising $31 million in classroom project funding by 10%. Some recent partners include: Chevron, Google, The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Sonic Drive-In, Disney, and U.S. Cellular. We're looking for an intern to work Mondays and Thursdays for approximately 8-12 hours per week through December. Primary responsibilities include: -Research: provide key data on top corporate, foundation, institutional, and individual prospects to our East and West fundraising teams. -Content creation: create resources for the PBD team that will improve their ability to manage partnerships and provide excellent customer service to our corporate and foundation donors (e.g. peer analysis, social media best practices). -Data management: update our CRM tool (Salesforce) in order to improve prospecting and reporting capabilities. The ideal candidate is: - Extremely organized - Very comfortable with and interested in data analysis and meticulous reporting - A fast learner who excels in detail-oriented work while maintaining a can-do attitude - A strong verbal and written communicator with a customer-service orientation - Passionate about social media: keenly aware and interested in how brands are using social media for storytelling. To Apply: Please apply online by submitting your resume and a cover letter addressed to Reyna Booth, Development Director. --- Internship Stipend Policy Stipends are available for undergraduate interns who demonstrate compelling financial need, to supplement transit and housing costs. We evaluate applicants based on household income, housing and tuition costs, expected duration of internship, student employment history, and other factors that may affect one’s participation in our internship program, on a case-by-case basis. To be considered for a stipend, the applicant must commit to a minimum of 8 weeks/10 hours per week, and cannot be the recipient of any other grants or stipends related specifically to this internship. Grant amounts vary from transit fare reimbursement for shorter internships, to $1,000+ for closer to full-time placements. Interested applicants will be asked to provide copies of their FAFSAs or SARs for evaluation.
