Student Intern Job Location: Boston, MA Department::Molecular Cardiology Research Institute (MCRI) Schedule:Per Diem-Variable Status Shift:Day shift Grade:80 Hours:8:30-5 Job Details: Bachelor's degree is preferred Job duties will focus on ongoing studies in GPCRs and drug discovery. Performs molecular biological techniques including analysis of gene expression by gel electrophoresis techniques (Northern and Western blotting), PCR, RNAi, and cell culture. Additional responsibilities may include molecular biological techniques of bacterial transformation, mini-preps, maxi-preps and simple subcloning. Maintains tissue cultures and transfection/infection of cells and monitors cells for viability, phenotype and function. Uses in vitro screening assays to identify the function of novel genes by using fluorescence and luminescence microtitration plate assays for cell proliferation, apoptosis, immunoassays and gene expression. Records, calculates, transcribes and analyzes data using statistical techniques. May present data at laboratory meetings. REQUIREMENTS: Some knowledge of biology, chemistry and related sciences.
