Why China? at CRCC Asia
First and foremost, any young professional serious about preparing themselves for a global future must invest in themselves by living and working abroad. Doing so is the best way to enhance a resume, gain firsthand knowledge of international culture and business, and learn a new language.
Once the decision to go abroad has been made, the next step is to choose a location. Traditional locations throughout Europe are quickly fading in importance with the rise of the developing world. Global behemoths such as China, India and Brazil now offer just as much (and arguably more) opportunity that the global financial hubs of the 20th century. These are the locations where growth and enterprise are exploding. Anyone with knowledge or experience in these regions is sure to have a leg up in the job market over the coming decades.
If you have even cracked a newspaper within the past 5 years, then you are well aware of the rise of China. The numbers speak for themselves:
9.8% GDP growth since 2007, compared to 1.0% growth in the US
2nd largest economy in the world, having overtaken Japan in 2009 (and forecasted to surpass the US within the next 5-10 years).
Population of 1.3 makes Mandarin the world’s most widely spoken language
Each of these statistics point to the rising importance of China. It is an extremely exciting time to experience China; the country is awash with optimism and energy. Now is the time to witness the vibrant dynamism that is bringing Beijing and Shanghai to the world’s center stage!
